Rules Relating To The Show

1. Under no circumstances will there be entries taken on the day, exceptions: Dog Show, Bonny Baby section and side shows.
2. Third prize been paid in all classes, is subject to 4 or more participants in the class.
3. Where there are insufficient entries in a class this class may be amalgamated or cancelled, and the Exhibitor notified.
4. An animal winning 1^st Prize will not be eligible for competition in subsequent classes in the same section
5. The Affairs of the Show will be conducted by the Committee. All persons entering the ground are subject to the direction of the Stewards and Secretary.
6. Intending Competitors must lodge with the Secretary a list of entries for competition numbered according to the Prize List and accompanied by Entry Fees on or before Saturday 9th July. Forms of entry can be had on application to the Secretary or obtained from the website.
7. Each exhibitor in the Livestock Sections will be supplied with an Exhibitor’s Ticket; this will allow free entry to the Show Grounds on day of Show for one attendant with 2 animals, if present before 09.30am.
8. No person shall be permitted to interfere with or crowd around the Judges when adjudicating. Competitors so doing will forfeit their claims to prizes.
9. Entries for competition other than livestock should be at the Show Grounds no later than 9 o’ clock on the morning of the show.
10. The decision of the Judges shall be final as to merit. Objections or appeals must be made in writing, signed by the objector, and lodged with the Secretary within 15 minutes of the results been announced. Then they will be dealt with by the Committee, whose decision will be final. A deposit of €25 to accompany the Statement of Objection, which will be forfeited should the Committee consider the objection to be frivolous.
11. No diseased animal can be admitted and should any manifest symptoms of disease during the exhibition; they must immediately be removed from the premises on an order being given to that effect by the Secretary.
12. No person will be allowed to act as Judge in any class in which he/she is a competitor.
13. Stewards will be appointed to each section and their duty will be to attend the Judges, point out the different classes and affix the Rosettes to the successful animals or exhibits as soon as the Judge has made their awards. Competitors shall obey the directions of the Stewards in each section or class.
14. No Steward shall be permitted to exhibit an animal or assist an exhibitor while judging is in progress.
15. All animals must be properly trained or restrained and led by a competent person. Animals which in the opinions of the Safety Officers are likely to become dangerous or are dangerous will be removed from the grounds or enclosed in the pen provided.
16. The Committee will not be responsible for any goods or items left in the Marquees or on the Grounds after 6 pm on the evening of Show.
17. The animals showing a mouth other than that defined by the Class which it is entered will be disqualified.
18. All animals at the show must be haltered properly and off loaded into an unloading pen when they arrive, as the Show Committee will not be liable for any damage caused by untamed animals.
19. Exhibitors must be present to show their livestock for judging at the prescribed time otherwise the Stewards or Show Committee will not be responsible for any animal not being judged.
20. Insurance – ALL Trade Stands on entry to show Grounds must hold their own Public Liability Insurance cover and indemnify Castleblayney Show.
21. ALL Trades Stands must always be properly supervised in the interest of safety.
22. A 5% levy will be deducted from all hoofed animals.
23. Every reasonable care will be exercised by the Show Committee, each exhibitor or spectator must assume responsibly for his or her own safety. All children must be supervised by a responsible adult.
24. The Committee acting through its officers reserve the right to decline acceptance of entries or returning any entry exhibit without incurring any liability.

for the efficient running of the championships all concerned are requested to read and observe the rules set out below

1. 1. QUALIFYING ROUNDS (QUALIFIERS)

Qualifying rounds will take place at eligible shows selected by the Irish Shows Association.

1. 2. RESPONSIBILITY OF SHOWS HOLDING QUALIFYING ROUNDS
2. Selected shows Must hold a separate class for each qualifier from which the highest placed animals will qualify.
3. The qualifier class if possible, should be held as the first (1^st) class in the relevant section of the show.
4. Shows must ensure that the qualifiers are held strictly in accordance with the relevant rules.
5. No other sponsor may be involved in qualifying classes. “No prize-money to be paid to qualifiers”
6. Shows may charge an entrance fee for each qualifying class. The I.S.A. will award a rosette to the successful Qualifiers on appearance at the Finals.
7. A show hosting a Championship Final may not hold a qualifier for that Championship on the day of the Final other than by agreement with the Irish Shows Association.  However, shows who hold qualifiers for Horses, Ponies & Cattle may ask exhibitors to enter the exhibit in at least one other class at their show.
8. Animals qualified for Finals are not eligible to enter in any other class at the show where the Final is held (other than a Qualifying Class for another Competition).
1. Shows should appoint competent persons to act as stewards, who must ensure that only animals (or other exhibits) which are eligible to compete and those whose documentation is in order can proceed to the judging ring.
1. Animal passports & “Micro Chip where applicable” should be read by a Veterinary Surgeon appointed by the show.
10. On completion of judging, Stewards should instruct the successful competitors to attend at the Show Secretary’s Office within one hour and to complete the necessary documentation for entry to the Championship Final.
11. The show should appoint a well briefed officer who will attend the Secretary’s Office, and who will assist exhibitors to complete the necessary documentation for participation in the final and to collect the relevant entrance fee.
20. Show Secretaries must forward completed result cards, together with appropriate fees to the Irish Shows Association within three (3) days following the holding of the show.

N.B Shows must return results card marked ‘No Competition’ for any or all the events for which no animal (or exhibit) has been selected.

1. 3. RESPONSIBILITY OF EXHIBITORS
2. Exhibitors accept that the Judge’s decision is final in all cause. Any abuse at Judges will not be tolerated. Where a dispute or case for complaint arises, the matter should be dealt with under f below.
3. Winners of qualifiers are themselves responsible for entering their animals (or exhibits) for the final in accordance with j and k above, within one hour of qualifying.
4. Winners of qualifiers will compete in the final.
5. The Irish Shows Association in conjunction with the sponsor reserve the right to alter or amend the rules of any competition as may be necessary or appropriate.
6. Shows and competitors must contact the National Irish Shows Office for details of any championship and the Sponsor involved.
7. Objections must be lodged in writing with the Show Secretary or with the I.S.A representative at the show within half an hour of the completion of judging, together with a fee of €50, or other stated fee, which is refundable in the event of the objection being upheld.
8. Any Exhibitor who makes a false declaration or misrepresents a fact regarding themselves or their exhibit is liable to disqualification and or forfeiture of any prizes awarded.It is in the interest of he shows hosting championship Finals that photographs, and results are forwarded to the Irish Farmers Journal or other papers immediately following Judging.                                  
1. RESPONSIBILITIES OF SHOWS HOSTING CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS          

A deduction of 5% of the prize money is to be collected by the show and forwarded to the ISA within 30 Days of the final. Championship finals should start not later than 2 pm on the day of the show & the advertised time of starting Should be adhered to as far as practicable, if necessary, other show classes should be either postponed or relocated to allow this.                                                                     

NOTICES OF INTEREST TO CHAMPIONSHIP PARTICIPANTS

IRISH LAW (EU DIRECTIVE)

Under Irish Law all horses moving from one location to another must be accompanied by their passports. It is in your interest to ensure this is the case. Failure to do so is an offence under Irish Law and is liable on summary conviction to result in a fine up to €3000. All passports must be registered with the name of the current owner.

Embryo Transfer: Where a foal is produced by this method the dams passport must bear a declaration dated, stamped and signed by the stallion owner (or accredited practitioner where AI is involved) stating the date on which the dam was last covered (or inseminated) and the name of the covering stallion.

Notice To Exhibitors

Department of Agriculture Rules State:

That all premises where equines are held must be registered with the department.

It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to do this.

If you already have a herd number, this is sufficient.

If not, please register your premises.

The animal’s passport no.  must be written on the entry form,

Castleblayney show cannot accept entries without these two numbers.

Perpetual Challenge Cups

The Committee reserve the right to altering the time and conditions of the competition for any of these Cups for future shows or with-holding a Cup for which the judges do not find enough merit. All the following cups are Perpetual. Any exhibitor who wins a Cup three years in succession will be presented by the Committee with a replica.   Before the Cup is presented to a winner, he/she shall give security to the Committee at least thirty days before the day of the succeeding Show, in as good condition as it was received.
